{"id":36596,"date":"2017-11-04T15:16:34","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T15:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/?p=36596"},"modified":"2017-11-04T15:16:34","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T15:16:34","slug":"wellbeing-voxpop-how-do-you-maintain-yours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/2017\/11\/04\/wellbeing-voxpop-how-do-you-maintain-yours\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellbeing voxpop: how do you maintain yours?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The people of Cardiff reveal their secrets to looking after their wellbeing<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/entry\/the-anxiety-detox-how-to-train-your-mind-for-relaxation_uk_59806343e4b0d6e28a1062f8\">A recent report<\/a> by the Huffington Post suggested certain activities can enhance our wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>Mindfulness, meditation, exercise, writing things down and mind games are all meant to provide significant benefits for our mental health.<\/p>\n<p>The co-founder of\u00a0Headspace the meditation app, Andy Puddicombe, told HuffPost: \u201cNumerous studies have demonstrated that a regular meditation practice \u2013 or mindfulness practice as it is sometimes known \u2013 can help to reduce levels of anxiety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to this we wanted to find out how members of the public, in Cardiff, look after their wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>How do you look after your wellbeing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Linda Rumble, 71, retired, Merthyr Tydfil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36604\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/11\/Edit-Linda-Rumble-1-234x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"312\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36604\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/11\/Edit-Linda-Rumble-1-234x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"312\" \/><\/noscript><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI read, I do crosswords, I walk a little bit, I listen to music and I watch the TV because I enjoy doing them and it fills my time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brian Reid, 65, company manager, Cornwall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36608\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/11\/Edit-Brian-Reid-234x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"312\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36608\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/11\/Edit-Brian-Reid-234x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"312\" \/><\/noscript><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t drink too much [alcohol] and I have plenty of water because it makes me feel better. I find that going for a jog clears my head, probably because of the endorphins.
