Representatives from Pride will show small organisations that a good event doesn\u2019t have to cost the earth<\/span><\/h2>\n

Volunteers from Pride Cymru will share the secrets of how they organised Wale’s largest Pride event, in a communications event for small businesses and charities.<\/p>\n

The talk will be given by Hannah Granton, head of marketing and Megan Chick, PR and communications manager, both of whom joined Pride earlier this year.<\/p>\n

It is aimed towards smaller organisations that don\u2019t have large marketing budgets.<\/p>\n

Hannah said that you don\u2019t need to pour endless resources into marketing as long as your message is clear. Maintaining a strong brand in the face of limited resources or budget cuts will be a key focus of the talk.<\/p>\n

Pride Cymru has faced considerable difficulties this year due to budget cuts. Their marketing budget was halved, from \u00a340,000 to \u00a320,000.<\/p>\n

Hannah said that it was important to attract a lot of people to Pride events such as The Big Weekend<\/a>, to ensure the LGBT+ community felt accounted for and also to enable the organisation to continue running\u00a0 sustainably.<\/p>\n

She added that Pride Cymru receives little government support.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe get a bit of a grant but it\u2019s nothing compared to what other Prides get across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite these issues, the 2018 Big Weekend event was a real triumph, with 50,000 people taking part in the three day celebrations.<\/p>\n

Hannah felt an element of Pride\u2019s success was the care taken in ensuring their brand was visually aligned with their message.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things I jumped on straight away with my work was making sure we looked like an LGBT event,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The talk was arranged by CIPR Cymru Wales<\/a> as part of a series of communications events called \u2018Rise and Shine\u2019.<\/p>\n

It will take place on 22 November at the Bigmoose Coffee Co.<\/a><\/p>\n
