With the SNP using the crisis in Westminster to push for another Scottish independence referendum, is the sentiment for an independent Wales growing as well?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in December 2018, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/electionsinwales\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/100\/2018\/12\/WALES_DEVO_TABS_1218.pdf\">SkyNews reported<\/a> that just 17% of the Welsh population would support independence should a referendum be called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Welsh independence party <a href=\"https:\/\/d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net\/cumulus_uploads\/document\/4lav01m6zl\/PlaidCymruResults_190910_Independence_W.pdf\">Plaid Crymu reported<\/a> in September 2019 that 33% are now in support of an independent Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> We spoke to members of the public in Cardiff so they could have their say. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cDo you think there is growing sentiment for independence in Wales?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/Screenshot-2019-10-20-at-18.27.29-234x312.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48498\" width=\"234\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/Screenshot-2019-10-20-at-18.27.29-234x312.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48498\" width=\"234\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dave Keeling, engineer, 57, Cardiff.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo, I think there\u2019s\nless of a sentiment [for independence] if I\u2019m honest. The people I work with\nare pro staying as a union. Especially amongst younger people, because they\u2019ve been let down by central government. We\u2019re seeing less and less funding. Wales relies quite a lot on the rest of the United Kingdom \u2013 especially the European Union. I feel like they would be pretty screwed if they went on their own. I believe one size does not\nfit all.
