Photo courtesy of <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\">Unspalsh.<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bans over disruptive demonstrations from Extinction Rebellion have been judged unlawful, but what do the people of Cardiff think of the large-scale protests in their city?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting themselves as a \u201cnon-violent network\u201d, Extinction Rebellion is an environmental campaign group attempting to invoke political change through public protests, which anyone is welcome to join.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the attempted London ban, demonstrations in the capital continue, as the group strive to persuade the government to declare a climate change emergency.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protest group recently arranged a slow-bike-ride along Castle Street, where hundreds of cyclists held up traffic, causing huge disruptions during rush hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They targeted Cardiff for peaceful protests in the summer, which sparked controversy among locals, due to road blockages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The question was posed to members of the public on the streets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What do you think of the Extinction Rebellion protests in Cardiff? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/No-logo_4_Pic-1_AF-416x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48589\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/No-logo_4_Pic-1_AF-416x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48589\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jane Kemble, 66, retired, Cardiff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a good idea and we all should be doing something but I think it\u2019s a little bit too disruptive and too annoying for a lot of people. I think they can put people off actually and they don\u2019t want that. I see their point but I\u2019m not quite sure they\u2019re going about it the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/no-logo_4_pic-6_af-416x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48594\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2019\/10\/no-logo_4_pic-6_af-416x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48594\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Iona Ruja, 31, nurse, Romania<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s right. What can you do to make sure the planet is ok? I agree with what they do but I think there\u2019s another way to go about it. I\u2019d say I\u2019m generally in favour and I certainly don\u2019t agree with the approach that police have taken in London, that\u2019s for sure.
