Credit: Bethan Miller Photography<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Welsh band <a href=\"http:\/\/www.philcampbell.net\">Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons<\/a> have released a new album <em>We\u2019re the Bastards<\/em>, after a difficult lockdown for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/culture\/voxpop-is-there-a-positive-future-for-independent-welsh-music\" target=\"_blank\">rock <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/culture\/in-depth-welsh-music-calls-for-more-support\">industry<\/a>.<br><br>The five-piece band from South Wales released their <a href=\"https:\/\/geni.us\/PCATBS-WereTheBastards\">new album<\/a> on November 13 following eight months in local lockdown.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phil Campbell of M\u00f6torhead and his three sons, Todd, Dane and Tyla Campbell form four members of the heavy metal, hard rock band; the fifth being vocalist Neil Starr.<br><br>The album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zqxv9Cm2b6w\">We\u2019re the Bastards<\/a><\/em> is a spinoff from the band\u2019s name, \u2018Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons\u2019. Tyla Campbell, the band\u2019s bassist said the band&#8217;s name was at first a joke by singer Neil. <br><br>\u201cMy father [Phil Campbell, the band\u2019s guitarist] wasn\u2019t keen on the name, he took some time to come around to it,&#8221; laughed Tyla.<br><br>After a fan of the band tweeted &#8220;#We\u2019re the bastards&#8221;, the Welsh band felt it was the perfect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PhilCampbellATBS\/videos\/423635669030787\">album<\/a> title. \u201cWe&#8217;ve got bastard in our name, so why not add bastard in our album?,\u201d said Tyla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Can\u2019t wait to release our new album, <em>We\u2019re the Bastards<\/em> on November 13. It\u2019s going to rock your socks off!&#8221;<\/p><cite>Phil Campbell, guitarist of Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rocking a socially distanced new album<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was created in Todd Campbell\u2019s recording studio <em>Stompbox Music Studio<\/em> in Pontyclun following social distancing guidelines. The band\u2019s usual recording dynamic was forced to change said Tyla, as only two members of the band were able to be in the studio at one time.<br><br>The restrictions meant that the band were more productive recording the \u00a38.99 album as they didn\u2019t \u201cwaste any time chatting,\u201d said Tyla. Although, a lack of feedback from fellow band members was a potential hindrance to the progression of the album.<br><br>Due to the restrictions, the band was unable to hear the 13-track digital album develop through the usual step-by-step process.
