The zero-waste <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/greenrefillshop.com\" target=\"_blank\">store<\/a> aims to cut the plastic habit of Welsh people and create an eco-friendly environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sian Bullen, the owner of the shop, said the start-up <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/greenrefillshop\/\" target=\"_blank\">store<\/a> in the town centre has begun to take off, following the slow start after opening during lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe pandemic is putting people off coming out and doing their shopping. Now that lockdowns lifted, I&#8217;m hoping people will come and see what we\u2019ve got,\u201d she said.  <br><br>Sian&#8217;s idea to open the store formulated during her one-hour journey to her previous refillable store based outside of her hometown Merthyr Tydfil, a journey that became 60 minutes too long for Sian to do a quick restock of groceries.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Going green in the Welsh valley<br><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The people of Merthyr were at first reluctant to start shopping at the Green Refill Shop, \u201cI think there&#8217;s a lot of fear around it,\u201d said Sian, locals &#8220;didn&#8217;t realise&#8221; how &#8220;easy&#8221; it is to refill their containers. However, it takes a first refill for Sian\u2019s customers to feel comfortable and eager to step towards a zero-waste lifestyle.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/greenrefillshop\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">In store<\/a> customers can get their hands on a variety of products including fresh fruit and vegetables, glass-bottled milk, <a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/no-logo\/climate-change-could-lead-to-an-increase-in-wildfires-across-the-country\">wooden<\/a> toothbrushes and a selection of fresh vegan pastries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>I loved the fresh bakery! The loaf of onion sourdough didn\u2019t last the journey home!<\/em><\/p><cite>Rhiannon Jones, a customer at the Green Refill Shop<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>At the refill station, everything from shampoo to cleaning products are weighed and purchased. The prices of items in store \u201cwork out close to supermarket prices,\u201d smiled Sian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another part of the store is the book swap corner, an area that captivates the essence of community in Merthyr added Sian, whose aim is to save the books becoming landfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can purchase a fruit and veg\u2019 box for delivery.
