The podcast is run by three bartenders who work at the infamous Lab 22 cocktail bar in Cardiff, the forefront of cocktail innovation since the bar opened in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthew Jones, Alex Mills and Max Hayward are the three 20 to 30-year-old, Cardiff based bartenders behind the new podcast that discusses all things alcohol and the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aiming to appeal to a wider audience, Matthew also known as Welly said, anyone from experienced bartenders to those who like a \u201clime in their G&amp;T\u201d are able to tune in to the weekly podcast, that was initially created during lockdown as \u201ca bit of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In episode one, Max described the podcast as a \u201cbehind the scenes chat\u201d that the three charismatic cocktail makers would have, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Lab22Cardiff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lab 22<\/a> on a late Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three bartenders and a microphone<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Friday Night Handover<\/em> is a universal saying for bartenders before closing for the night, explained Matthew. \u201cIt&#8217;s the last communication between the team, who prepare stock on a Friday night before Saturday service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The un-scripted <a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/2019\/11\/25\/cardiff-character-morgan-richards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">podcast <\/a>begins by researching prior to the show what is new in the drinks industry before a discussion and finishing with an alcohol tasting session that the three have called, \u2018What the fuck are we drinking?!\u2019&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> <\/strong>Tipsy Friday night talks<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Admitting alcohol consumption on the podcast can get out of control, Matthew complimented Max&#8217;s ability to keep the three on track, as \u201c[Alex] Mills goes off on a tangent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The alcohol we try on the show is the type you\u2019d find in the back of your nan&#8217;s cupboard<\/p><cite>Matthew Jones, Lab 22 bartender and one of the three hosts behind<em> The Friday Night Handover<\/em> podcast<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Rhiannon Ware, an experienced bartender in Cardiff who tuned in to the podcast said she is \u201cinstantly a fan!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>It\u2019s certainly a podcast I would enjoy on a Friday night at home, now that the 6pm curfew has closed bars in Cardiff<\/p><cite>Rhiannon Ware, an experienced bartender and listener of <em>The Friday Night Handover<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthew announced a Christmas special show featuring guests that will feature on the 25 December on Spotify.
