Ongoing Covid-19 restrictions make the logistics of gathering and celebrating difficult, making 2020 the year to look for more local ways to participate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">The sun is so linked into who we are as people<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Winter Solstice gathering at Stonehenge begins the period of Yuletide (the original pagan celebration before Christmas was born though the Christian reformation).&nbsp;This year the event will be live streamed, but at the heart of it the Solstice is about getting out into nature for sunrise and can be enjoyed and celebrated as locally as you like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HKZoLay1X5U\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><noscript><iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HKZoLay1X5U\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Everybody loves the sunshine<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe turning of the Earth and the ascension of the sun is so linked into who we are as people,\u201d says Maxine Allinson, who will be leading a Solstice celebration walk in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2631333843636573\/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22search_results%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22search%22%7D]%7D\">Barry<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maxine believes people are in a serious state of worry at the moment and this is something the public can fix, finding their true self through spending time in nature.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Bethan Williams, who will be leading an outdoor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/430925477899065\/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22search_results%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22search%22%7D]%7D\">Reiki walk<\/a> for the Solstice in Crosskeys, this time can be used to safely gather outdoors and heal through collective experience and \u201cSharing energy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bethan says it is important to understand that this time is not just for people who follow Pagan traditions. She doesn\u2019t usually get involved with the Solstice, but she says this is a good time to get people out in nature after so much isolation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone isolating at home or wishing to experience the Winter Solstice at Stonehenge can now watch online.
