Credit: <strong>Pinar K\u00f6ksal<\/strong><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A new exhibition is giving emerging photographers a chance to showcase their work at Ffotogallery in Cathays this November.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ffocws will display the work of 12 up-and-coming photographers, including two artists who were discovered through an open call for photographers with no formal arts qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curator <a href=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/altcardiff\/2021\/11\/16\/ffotogallery-cardiff-is-showing-a-first-of-its-kind-exhibition-of-african-photography\/\">Cynthia MaiWa Sitei<\/a> says that, while the open call produced a lot of strong applicants, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinarkoksal.com.tr\/\">Pinar K\u00f6ksal<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the6millionpman.co.uk\/\">Ed Worthington<\/a> stood out to her the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sitei says, \u201cPinar\u2019s work is fascinating and raises questions on existentialism whereas Ed\u2019s work consists of well executed, site-specific shots of Cardiff and his relationship with the location.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K\u00f6ksal moved to Cardiff from Turkey just two months ago, and her work is inspired by life cycles and humanity\u2019s connection with the universe. \u201cI see this as the first step of my new life,\u201d says the 33-year-old visual communications designer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also thanked Ffotogallery for helping to kick-start her photography career and for allowing her to be part of \u201csuch a beautiful organisation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Worthington says his work seeks to find beauty in the ordinary, and admits he was stunned when his work was selected. \u201cThe opportunity to have my work displayed in a gallery to a wide audience who would never have seen it before is just incredible,\u201d says the 36-year-old Caerphilly native.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ten recent graduates will also be showcasing their respective work, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alicedurham.photo\/\">Alice Durham<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laurentinamiksys.uk\/\">Laurentina Miksys<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durham says her work will tackle themes such as isolation and addiction, while Miksys says she uses black-and-white photography to emphasise line, form, and texture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe graduates that we saw all presented strong and well executed work,\u201d says Sitei. \u201cI was looking for artists who were going to allow the audience to engage in confronting difficult conversations with their work.\u201d         <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ffotogallery.org\/programme\/ffocws\">Ffocws<\/a><em>&nbsp;<\/em>runs from 4 November until 17 December at Ffotogallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
