Image Credit: Yusef Yarmohamed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Monmouthshire-based company, The Crafty Pickle Co., has seen a 50% rise in people coming to their workshops since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The business is run by registered nutritionist Madi Myers. She has noticed an increased interest in pickling over the past few years. So the company is adding new workshops like Forage &amp; Ferment and making miso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCompared to when we started our business five years ago we\u2019ve seen a huge uptick in recognition of the foods we make, as well as interest in our workshops and products\u201d, Myers said,  just before International Pickle Day on 14 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myers also believes that the growing awareness of food waste and sustainability has contributed to the popularity of their workshops. She pointed to interest in gut health and living foods as a factor. &#8220;Turnover has also increased by 16% in the last year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The popularity of pickling is evident on social media like <a href=\"https:\/\/eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fvm.tiktok.com%2FZGdMS5BjK%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7CWilsonMJ8%40cardiff.ac.uk%7C9c031c9c51b9457e9b5b08dd1855deca%7Cbdb74b3095684856bdbf06759778fcbc%7C1%7C0%7C638693479282116681%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=M7SXMzH0MtpkWR3y%2F6aEOgvAtYGNoKdAmDPPBNgTtb4%3D&amp;reserved=0\">TikTok<\/a>, where the hashtag #pickles has over 300,000 videos. We\u2019ve worked with many individuals, organisations and charities over the years to help rescue perfectly edible but surplus fruit and veg,\u201d said Myers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur backgrounds in nutrition mean we have a passion for education and helping people cut through the crap\u201d, explained Myers, \u201cespecially when it comes to sorting through tips on gut
