Statue of Sir Tasker Watkins

Statue honours Sir Tasker Watkins, memorizing his remarkable contributions to Britain.

Tasker Watkins was born in 18 November, 1918. He was the president of Welsh Rugby Union from 1993 to 2004. He also served in the British Army during the World War Two.

He was awarded the Victoria Cross, Britain’s highest award of courage in facing the enemy.

The statue of Sir Tasker Watkins is located outside the Principality Stadium, in the city centre of Cardiff. The statue is nine feet tall and was sculpted by Llantwit Major based sculptor Roger Andrews.

Cardiff University student Shiyu Yin made a brief introduction about the Statue of Sir Tasker Watkins in front of Principality Stadium.

“This statue is to memorize his contribution to the country, both as a solder and the president of the Welsh Rugby Union. He has been described as the greatest Welsh man”, he said.
