Statue Of Ivor Novello, The British Entertainer

The statue at Cardiff Bay is honouring Ivor Novello for his remarkable progress in the entertainment industry.

Ivor Novello was born in 1893 at Cardiff, Wales. He was a Welsh actor, composer, singer and dramatist. He was the most famous British entertainer in the first half of the 20th century.

He belonged to a musical family, and he started his career in music. He produced music during the world wars which made him famous. In the 1920s, he started doing acting and got success in this as well.

His work influenced the development of popular music and British Music theatre, which made him a key figure in the arts.

This statue shows the Ivor Novello sitting on the chair with manuscripts on his lap and pen in his hand. His head is turned over his right shoulder which seems like someone is calling him.

According to statue enthusiast Sandisiwe Tshabe, this sculpture is “a live size representation of an exceptional man”.

This monument pays tribute to Ivor Novello because he gave a lot to music and the entertainment industry, and he paved the way for people to make their future in this field.
