Statue of Miner

Who is the miner hidden in Cardiff’s Queen Street?

The statue of a miner unveiled in 1998 presents the image of hardworking miners.

It is located in the Coal Exchange, which is a historic building that played an important role in the coal trade in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Robert Thomas is a sculptor who created this bronze statue.

It is a important symbol in the centre of the city. It is represents the hard work and contributions of coal miners to the economy and culture of South Wales.

A student from Cardiff University Mishal Husain explained the design concept of this statue. “The statue shows a miner wearing a helmet. It reflects the tough conditions and strong character of the miners who worked long hours underground.”
