{"id":28894,"date":"2022-02-04T18:16:48","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T18:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=28894"},"modified":"2022-02-17T19:46:03","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T19:46:03","slug":"six-nations-pub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/cjsnews\/six-nations-pub\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Plenty of beer, plenty of staff, plenty of food&#8217; and possibly plenty of long queues for the pub for Wales&#8217; Six Nations kick off"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fans will be able to return to pubs for the Six Nations tomorrow for the first time since the start of the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wales play away to Ireland tomorrow in the first match of the tournament and are aiming to retain their title after last year&#8217;s win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you\u2019re planning on supporting Wales from the comfort of the pub, the advice from publicans is to get there early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Corp, the manager of Cardiff pub The City Arms,  said pubs will be \u201chugely busier (than a usual Saturday)&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked if fans will have to queue at the door, he said: \u201cI would have thought so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We don\u2019t know yet. I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s going to be a bit of anticipation as to whether people feel safe to going out. It&#8217;s hard to tell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur function room upstairs, that\u2019s fully booked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t have thought (it will be) as busy as the home games obviously, but I think it\u2019s going to be really busy because people just can\u2019t wait to get back out.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained how tomorrow would be even busier because \u201cwe got the England game on later which will keep people in town\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The all-important questions rugby fans want to know is &#8211; given the move out of lockdown and the supply issues that has caused &#8211; will there be enough beer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh, I\u2019ve got enough beer, don\u2019t you worry about that, that orders been in the last week or two. So there\u2019s no problem there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlenty of beer, plenty of staff, plenty of food so we will go from there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What time should you get to the pub to avoid the crowds?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Corp quipped: &#8220;8am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really nice to see the city coming back to life again, even today we can see the atmosphere changing, and everyone just looking forward to a good day\u2019s rugby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGetting back together, meeting old friends, we may not have seen for a couple of years and just really exciting to get going again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe feedback coming from other managers in the city centre as well is that we are looking forward to a really busy weekend. Kick starts the six nations.
