the<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>ir insight<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process may seem simple but for many, the perfect pancake remains a flat-out mystery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/yougov.co.uk\/topics\/arts\/survey-results\/daily\/2023\/02\/20\/dcbe5\/3\">a YouGov poll<\/a>, 23% of Brits are unable to make a pancake from scratch, instead relying on premade pancake mix and local dessert shops. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With today being Pancake Day, CJS News wanted to find a local expert to help uncover the mysteries of the world-wide staple. Cathays.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve been making these pancakes for 10 years so it comes natural to me \u2013 even my kids can make them!\u2019 Taslima said. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily for us, Taslima is willing to give away some of her trade secrets. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are her top five tips: &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Thick is best <\/strong>&#8211; For fluffy American-style pancakes, you will need a nice thick batter. You need to be able to pour the mixture into the pan without it losing height.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Get rid of all those lumps<\/strong> \u2013 Don&#8217;t be lazy when you\u2019re mixing the batter. Make sure that the flour is completely incorporated into the batter otherwise you will have heavy floury lumps.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Be gentle \u2013 <\/strong>It\u2019s all a balancing act. If you overmix the batter then you could lose air bubbles that give the batter height. Keep the mix light and fluffy. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Let it rest \u2013 <\/strong>Leave the batter to one side for about an hour so that the air bubbles can rise to the top. This makes the pancakes fluffy and tall.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t be scared of butter! <\/strong>&#8211; Adding butter to the pancake mix makes the dough rich and stops it from becoming dry. You could even put butter in between each pancake. For one day a year \u2013 why not?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>And her final tip? Share them!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018For me, Pancake Day is about family time.
