{"id":31606,"date":"2023-02-24T17:40:38","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T17:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=31606"},"modified":"2023-02-24T17:40:39","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T17:40:39","slug":"people-in-south-wales-unhealthiest-in-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/cjsnews\/people-in-south-wales-unhealthiest-in-the-country\/","title":{"rendered":"People in South Wales &#8220;unhealthiest&#8221; in the country"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>New data from the Office of National Statistics shows that Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly have the highest levels of poor health in Wales<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically deprived areas and former industrial communities in the Valleys have more people who are ill according to Census data from 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly one in ten people living in these local authorities reported poor or very poor health, with Merthyr Tydfil having double the number of unhealthy people than Powys or Anglesey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Areas in north and mid Wales have a far healthier population, with over half of those living in  Gwynedd being in very good health.
