From playing football on the street after school to scoring in the FA Cup, Veatriki Sarri has made her dream come true<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is my first year playing full-time football\u2014and that\u2019s something I always had as a goal as to what I wanted to do,\u201d Birmingham City forward Veatriki Sarri tells me, \u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed every precious moment, and I\u2019m trying to make the most out of it, every single day!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m speaking to the 24-year-old over Zoom, the day after she scored the opener in an FA Cup victory against Sunderland, helping to put Birmingham City<\/a> club into the hat for the fifth round, where they\u2019ve been pitted against Championship outfit Durham Women’s FC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a little over a year since she signed her first professional contract<\/a>, moving from Sheffield United in the FA Women\u2019s Championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore I signed I played part-time football,\u201d she explains, discussing how she\u2019s made her way up through the divisions. Indeed, Sarri\u2019s career has taken her to Leeds United and Fylde as well as the Blades and the Blues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019d say there\u2019s a big difference in terms of full-time and part-time football,\u201d she muses of her switch to the professional game. \u201cYou\u2019re in every day training. That\u2019s the main focus\u2014it\u2019s been really good for me; I\u2019ve really enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
