Learning about Body Dysmorphia in healthcare centers, where one see’s BD patients, can be a daunting and emotionally draining experience because Body Dysmorphia is a sensitive subject. So, imagine learning from the privacy of your home how your loved ones have suffered, before confronting and aggravating the actual patient but through a quick time span and in a new immersive lens in order to truly empathize with them.
If so, put on a VR-headset and go through ‘A Walk-through Body Dysmorphia’.
This educational-program is designed to teach 18+ users what body dysmorphia sufferers undergo, within ordinary situations. The experience will simulate themes of obsession, distress and isolation as the avatar (Helena) finds herself mentally trapped, having locked herself away in the bathroom of a student house party. Taunted by her own reflection, users should get a feel for the BD-symptoms and the challenges these patients endure daily; whilst, walking in the shoes of these patients through active participation’s, that could be predictable or even surprising.
