If there is anything society has gotten used to over the past year, it’s the inside of our own homes. The last 12 months have made it incredibly difficult for people to embrace their inner adventurer and explore the world around them. From struggling to keep the kids entertained, to international students who haven’t been able to get to know the beautiful new city around them, we know it’s been tough. Despite restrictions loosening up, It is likely that it will still be a while until we get back to the normality we remember, meaning exciting experiences such as getting to know a new city will not be possible in the traditional sense for a little while longer.
That’s where we come in! At CentreQuest, we want to put YOU in charge of your next adventure. We’ve paired up with Cardiff University and the National Museum to create a nifty AR app that provides you with a walking tour through the wonderful Welsh capital, allowing you to take the wheel and explore at your own pace. No more speed-walking to keep up with a tour guide, or struggling to hear what they have to say over the hustle and bustle of the city centre – Instead simply look at the markers on the map and decide where you want to go next, pop in your headphones, and get to know the city! Our AR technology allows you to point your device (either your own smartphone, or a device loaned from the museum) at one of our many landmarks, and gives you an overlay of information related to the history, and current significance, of the location. It’s a tour guide in your pocket! We eventually hope to roll this out in all major cities to give a much needed injection to the tourism industry, but for now, Cardiff is the place to give CentreQuest a try.
