I used to get called horrible names after I came out as trans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garbile is now working as a volunteer for helping transgender young people in YMCA Swansea, an independently constituted charitable organisation. \u201cThe Prize is for Young person of the Year, to celebrate young people\u2019s achievements,\u201d he gives a cup of tea to me, \u201cI was shocked and really scared, but very happy and giddy to receive it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The young man in simple plaid shirt and jeans sits with me is one of thousands of trans minors who are generally vulnerable and stigmatised lacking of social support and understanding from their families and peers. \u201cAsk me anything you like,\u201d he says confidently, \u201cDo not worry,\u201d he smiles at me and adds, as if finding out my nervous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have pursued the voluntary work here for a year and a half,\u201d he says and glances at posters hanging on the wall. He participates in trans sessions in this classroom on weekdays. There is a backboard, a stereo set, water machine, several chairs and desks. He had to register as a \u2018girl\u2019 officially, \u201cmy teachers and most classmates just knew I was biologically female,\u201d he takes a deep breath and says, \u201cI never used unisex bathrooms, I had to use female bathroom and stuck on the female sport team,\u201d he takes a sip of tea and tries to regain his composure.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Transgender\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dj2Zv1Jp_YA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Transgender\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dj2Zv1Jp_YA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>During the beginning period of self-doubt, \u201cI was confused and scared,\u201d he says, as he had no knowledge about being trans. \u201cI wouldn&#8217;t say I was different, I&#8217;m not just like everyone else really but mix up in the body department.\u201d He found most of his information from a friend and Trans*Forum,\u201cI know I needed help,\u201d\u00a0 the first place he found was the YMCA\u2019s LGBT youth group, \u201cLuckily, I felt loved and supportive there,\u201d his serious expression softens, \u201cvery thankful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After joined Trans community, he made friends with other trans and gained loads of support and help. Thanks to his pressure time with like-minded friends, he decided to speak out, \u201cI was passionate about LGBT rights and I want to make sure my voice was heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garbile believes that those unhappy experiences reinforce his determination to enounce, \u201cI remember all the times I got abused for being trans and I want to speak out against it.\u201d He clenched fist so tightly that mails dug deep into his palms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d rather not speak about my family,\u201d Garbile refused to talk about his parents\u2019 attitude towards this issue. \u201cFriends supported me through it all,\u201d he says evasively. \u201cMy girlfriend was my number one supporter,\u201d regarding to the relationship, how he meets his girlfriend and what romantic things he does, \u201cI am sorry,\u201d but \u201cif it is okay, I would rather not to speak anything about it,\u201d he blushes, \u201cI am very private when it comes to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nothing really, a wry smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, there was no changes after speaking out. \u201cI only felt more confident with myself\u201d, not that he\u2019s complaining, merely helpless. He remains the victim of transphobia, \u201ca few times when I use the men\u2019s bathroom in the public, I would get old guys wait outside my door or try to watch me,\u201d he slows down, his voice trembles, on the verge go tears.\u00a0 He pauses and says, \u201cEven after I came out a few years later, I still heard someone calling me \u2018Shemale\u2019 or \u2018Chickwithdick\u2019,\u201d reminds Garbile, looking hurt.<\/p>\n<p>Depression and anxiety are seemed like the torture he could not get rid of. \u201cthey are even getting worse as I am getting older from all the bullying I had,\u201d his brows contracted, looks suffering.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, I suggest that we might turn to his interest. \u201cSorry, it takes a while,\u201d he regains smile, pretending to be essay, \u201cI tend to forget these things, but it is pain in the ass,\u201d he grins. \u201cI enjoy playing video games and reading. Oh, I tell you,\u201d an enigmatic smile on his face, \u201cI try to be creative. Handling depression and anxiety though writing and drawing. Museums are such a lovely place,\u201d he laughs.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the future, Garbile says he wants to be a Youth Support Worker, \u201chelp people like me and support them in any way I can.\u201d Regarding to trans, \u201cI can not say what the future holds but I hope it is good.\u201d Mind you, says Garbile, \u201cin spite of all my tribulations, I do try to keep cheerful,\u201d he gives me a bright and determined smile, \u201cI want to encourage people and help them fight for their rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some young persons go into the room one after another, Garbile greets them with a wave and sneaks a glance of his watch, \u201cI am afraid I gonna go, the youth group is coming,\u201d he stands and looks at me apologetically. This Game night begins with Brain Science training, Garbile sits among children, listens to the lecture with eager attention.<\/p>\n<p>The ground is quickly carpeted with white and yellow posts, noting with \u2018feeling scared\u201d, \u201cnot being a real \u2018man\u2019\u201d and \u201csaying bad things on the Internet\u201d etc. to encourage youth to write down annoyances, and wishes \u201ca new book\u201d, \u201chugs\u201d and \u201cbeing accepted\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When I prepares to leave, Garbile was sitting on the ground, helping a child using sliver paper to make a mask.
