We asked the public their opinions towards this issue.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24806\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/123-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24806\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/123-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><\/noscript><br \/>\nMost families are exited with the arrival of their baby, but one big challenge those new mums need to face is how to balance childcare and work.<br \/>\nA report from the University of Birmingham shows women&#8217;s participation in the workforce rose by 26% when their parents or in-laws helped out.<br \/>\nIt found that 36% of single working mothers primarily relied on their parents &#8211; usually their own mother &#8211; for childcare. That dipped slightly to 32% of women with a partner.<br \/>\nHelping to raise children actually helps new mums go back to work. However, it may cause some pressure and inconvenience to grandparents themselves. We asked the public whether grandparents should help new mums take care of their children.<br \/>\n<strong>Owen, 38, civil servant, Bridgend<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-24801 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/1-1-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24801 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/1-1-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><\/noscript><br \/>\nIf they are available, yes. But I wouldn\u2019t say they should. My mom has involved a lot. You have to work now because the child care is really expensive. I do appreciate that my parent can help me.
