{"id":25232,"date":"2017-11-10T17:45:05","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T17:45:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/intercardiff\/?p=25232"},"modified":"2017-11-10T17:45:05","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T17:45:05","slug":"what-should-be-done-to-curb-the-issue-of-firecrackers-injuring-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/politics-social-justice\/what-should-be-done-to-curb-the-issue-of-firecrackers-injuring-people","title":{"rendered":"What should be done to curb the issue of firecrackers injuring people?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All across the UK, November 5<sup>th<\/sup> is recognised as Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes\u2019 Night to celebrate Guy Fawkes\u2019 failure to burn down the British Parliament in 1605.<br \/>\nPeople all over the UK burn bonfires and have firecracker displays but they can also be harmful for the people. A few days ago, a firecracker went off inside a bus and while it didn\u2019t injury anyone it was a scary experience for the people in the bus. At the same time, a 24 year old man lost his eye while trying to move a firecracker to save children.<br \/>\nIn light of this, we decided to ask the people of Cardiff what can be done to curb this issue of injuring people and causing harm to animals.<br \/>\n<strong>Helen Wynne-Jones, 36, IT Professional<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25300\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1197-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25300\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1197-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript><br \/>\nI have never been a big fan of the firework displays that take place around the city but since I got married, I saw the other side and I strongly believe that it isn\u2019t a good idea. My mother in law runs a sanctuary for physiologically and psychologically damaged horses and it is during this period that she faces the most problems because the people in the country-side stock up on fireworks as much as the ones in the city do!<br \/>\n<strong>Chris Purcell, 47, Restaurant Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25309\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1194-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25309\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1194-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript><br \/>\nI think bonfire displays should be held in isolated places where it wouldn\u2019t be as harmful to the people. There should be restrictions and barriers on how close people can get to the displays to further eliminate the possibilities of injuries.<br \/>\n<strong>Gemma Scarello, 30, Retail Assistant <\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25308\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1188-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25308\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/IMG_1188-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript><br \/>\nI do go to these displays with my family but I have a dog who goes absolutely mad every time he hears a cracker go off. So when I leave for these displays, I have to lock him up in the house.
