It is a massive waste of money.\u201d<br \/>\nWith a similar attitude, Sylvia Harris said, \u201cWe haven\u2019t seen a big flood happening. Our question is whether it is\u00a0necessary to take these trees down. Is there any other way of holding back the water? Our residents don\u2019t understand why this is such a huge schedule while it\u2019s just a tiny brook.\u201d<br \/>\nSome keys to those questions were answered by Gavin Jones, the project executive of NRW. &#8220;The brook which connected to the River Rhymney and Severn Estuary has burst its banks four times in the last ten years,&#8221;\u00a0he said, \u201cI think people\u2019s recognizing of flood risk is maybe not as significant as we estimated.\u201d<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26175\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26175\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26175\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/Liz-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26175\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26175\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/11\/Liz-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><\/noscript> Liz is playing with a dog. Photo by Shuang Chen.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nApart from the doubts to necessity, the construction work itself annoyed the local people in several aspects.<br \/>\nFirst, according to Liz and Ceri Capel, there were several errors, including putting the notice board at the wrong place, the misprint information on the leaflet and the constantly changing number of trees which should be removed or replanted.<br \/>\nSince the cut down number of trees is the most important issue in this project, Gavin, who represent the NRW official, said, \u201cWe plan to replant 105 trees within the parks. But unfortunately, there are always going to be individuals that we can\u2019t reach. Sylvia Harris attended this<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and said, \u201cMy main purpose here is to save the trees which mean a great deal to me and a lot of other people who lived here even longer than me.The trees are also mean a lot to the children in this area because they grow up with the memory of what the things are.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI know the people who in favour of this because they have difficulties with house insurance. Those people naturally feel the necessity for the flood, I acknowledge that.
