Written for young kids, the story follow as animals taking adventure in woodland and making friends there.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29028\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29028\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-29028 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u4e66\u672c\u7684\u7167\u7247-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29028\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29028 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u4e66\u672c\u7684\u7167\u7247-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript> Ann&#8217;s new books: woodland adventure, recently published and she believes these books will attract young readers and encourage them to write<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sitting in the caf\u00e9 in Cardiff Millennium Center is Ann Brady, 69 years old and with extensive experience in both writing and editing. She speaks directly, sharing the wisdom she\u2019s developed crafting her stories. You may already know her books, \u00a0but you might not know what she\u2019s doing to encourage a new generation of writers.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When she was in her 30s, she did many things, including making pen pals with strange people, traveling around the world, setting up her own company, \u00a0and creating websites. All these colorful experiences are the basis of her stories. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The writing experience for Ann began after she retired from her own business, a successful online <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fitness equipments website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen I retired, my husband asked me, what will I do? I said I was going write books. And it just came to me that what I used to do when I was a teenager? I used to write letters, and I have pen pals in many places all over the world, including Hong Kong and America. It used to take 6 weeks from England to Hong Kong, then I wrote my first story about twenty letters between two women from different social status. That\u2019s my first book,\u201d says Ann.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her first book was, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dear friends: Letters from Abroad<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. For new books, her inspiration partly comes from imagination, but is also based on reality. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29031\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29031\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-29031 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u7b2c\u4e00\u672c\u4e66-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29031\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29031 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u7b2c\u4e00\u672c\u4e66-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript> The first book of Ann is a historical book based on Ann&#8217;s experience with pen pals abroad, telling readers how two girls from different social classes influence each other<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe original inspiration came from my head when I saw some simple thing in my life, especially when there were some children involved. At that time I thought could I adapt that into my story, using animals as characters and telling stories about life for children,\u201d said Ann. \u201cEverything in nature has their own life. And I\u2019d like my books to encourage more kids to read and write their own books. That\u2019s what I always keep doing in my organization called<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Kids and Kids<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Young readers \u00a0are really encouraged by Ann\u2019s book. One 5-year-old girl was inspired by her mother to get in touch with the author. And I know how to help them modify their works and publish it. There\u2019s nothing better than seeing your own work being published,\u201d says Ann, explaining how she helps kids write their dreams.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ann shared her attitude to life. \u201cI think if you believe in what you are doing now, and you help someone else at least once. If you achieve something, you will help at least one person. You do more than others.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ann\u2019s writing attitudes also affects her granddaughter, who has suffered from anxiety, depression and suicidal tendencies. Her grandmother encouraged her to publish her diary about how she overcame her mental illness. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI said to my granddaughter, \u2018if one person read her book, then it helps them understand they are not alone\u2019. Other people suffer the same thing that you suffered. And this makes them feel better.&#8221;My granddaughter\u2019s book is now recommended reading on an Australian psychology website. She&#8217;s achieved great things by writing,\u201d said Ann. She\u2019s deeply proud by how her granddaughter had influenced and helped other people in similar situations with her writing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ever since the beginning, Ann has had her own strange- but brilliant- \u00a0way to write. She doesn\u2019t usepen, pencils, or even keyboards. She writes the book in her mind. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBelieve it or not, I actually wrote all these stories in my head every night,\u201d says Ann. \u201c I used to stay awake in the evening because I didn\u2019t sleep well. For this book, it took me 3 or 4 weeks to organize all things in my mind, and then I sat down and wrote them all down. Then eventually I put them together into book form.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For Ann\u2019s new books, a cell phone application sharing their name has been created to help foster new digital interactions with the stories. Children can sit and watch the cartoon in the app, with characters from The Woodland Adventure will talk when touched. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29043\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29043\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-29043 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u4e66\u548c\u4f5c\u5bb6\u548capp-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29043\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29043 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/\u4e66\u548c\u4f5c\u5bb6\u548capp-625x351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><\/noscript> Ann shows how her app works and says how happy her grandson was when he played the app<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While this app helps foster new connections between technology and reading, Ann still thinks young people should focus more on real books.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy application will not keep young people occupied with IPad or iPhone for a long time, it\u2019s just a small app for interaction. Technology is actually a mixture of bad and good. Kids should still sit down with pen and paper. I think we should still read in the old fashion way. Because if we don\u2019t, we are going to forget how to do that.
