This has been a routine for her in the past seven years, while <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">she studies in the United Kingdom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt has been a year and a half since our last reunion,\u201d says Emmy, \u201cand still three months to go for the next.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Doing a long distance relationship is a brave decision. Since being apart is definitely tiring at times, even for couples with a relatively strong foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many people often wonder how to get through it?<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29394\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29394\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-29394 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/long-distance-relationship-tips-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29394 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/long-distance-relationship-tips-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript> Being far away from your loved one can suck at times, but you can make it work.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><b>Always stay in touch<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCommunication is very important, since you are not with each other all the time,\u201d says Emmy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, what make things harder is the time-zone difference. So setting a schedule that works for both sides is essential. Emmy has got used to staying up late for more than one hour every day to chat with her boy friend, who gets up one hour earlier to fit the time. \u201cBut it is worth doing so, since it makes me feel we are being part of each other\u2019s life,\u201d Emmy says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yang and her partner Luo are going through a similar situation. Like Emmy and her boyfriend, the couple have been apart for six months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe thing we have learnt through this experience\u00a0 is to make sure that you check-in at least once a day whenever possible. This daily communication makes me believe that no matter how hard my day is, he will always be there\u201d Yang says.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Be patient.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s easy to encounter misunderstanding when you chat by messages since your partner can\u2019t see your face or hear your tone of voice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Conflicts are always inevitable for couples. When Liz shared her experience, she says, \u201cActually the reasons for those <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">quarrels are often tiny and meaningless. If you are together it can be fixed easily.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But for people doing long-distance relationship, these meaningless reasons can easily lead to big problems because of\u00a0 misunderstanding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, rather than silent treatment, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">patience and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">positive communication are suggested by Liz.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29391\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29391\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-29391 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/8n27KeC-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29391\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29391 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/02\/8n27KeC-625x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" \/><\/noscript> Let the other person know you are thinking of them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><b>Be considerate and express your love frequently<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are always times when someone feels that chatting over the phone and being online are far enough. But, what can you do to express your love and caring?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI know I am not the only one feeling hard, it isn\u2019t easy for my boy friend either. He also needs caring some times. We make best use of every chance to express our love and care. Every time he moved to a new place, I would help him choose and order household items online.
