The idea behind is that the value of gold increases over time and people can sell it when they needed money and earn profits. In other parts of the world and in urban areas of these countries, investment is slightly less glittery and space consuming.<\/p>\n<p>Buying shares is a common way to invest for people who are looking towards long-term profits. But it has a risky nature.<\/p>\n<p>A few days\u00a0ago, FTSE 100 company Marks and Spencer signed a deal with Ocado to bag a place on Ocado\u2019s website from 2020.<\/p>\n<p>M&amp;S\u00a0paid\u00a0\u00a3750\u00a0million for the deal, despite\u00a0being in\u00a0\u00a31.8\u00a0billion debt,and\u00a0shareholders were asked to fund \u00a3600 million required for the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst there have been mixed reactions from critics, investors have given an\u00a0unequivocal thumbs down to this deal.<\/p>\n<p>In another case,\u00a0Ryan Air\u00a0recently\u00a0disappointed British investors as\u00a0the\u00a0airline\u00a0declared it will take away the rights of British shareholders in case of a no deal Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>Although\u00a0stories like this\u00a0definitely\u00a0make\u00a0it easier to\u00a0understand why Indian farmers\u00a0simply\u00a0buy gold whenever they want to invest,\u00a0buying shares is\u00a0still\u00a0one of the smartest ways\u00a0to invest and understanding the market dynamics better.<\/p>\n<p>So where should you start?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%\">\n<div style=\"padding-bottom: 56.25%;padding-top: 0;height: 0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The Basics<\/h3>\n<p>A\u00a0company has three ways\u00a0it can\u00a0raise money\u00a0in order\u00a0to function.It can either take a loan from the bank, or from some other party, or sell shares.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0a\u00a0company takes a loan, it has to pay the borrowed amount\u00a0 after the scheduled time, alongwith\u00a0the\u00a0interest.<\/p>\n<p>However, when\u00a0a\u00a0company sells shares, the shareholders hold part ownership in the company depending on the number of shares they brought.<\/p>\n<p>They get to take part in the company\u2019s decision-making process in this scenario. The\u00a0amount shareholders earn depends\u00a0on the profit the company<\/p>\n<p>When the company is makingprofits, the value of shares also increases. So, the shareholders\u2019\u00a0earnings and prices\u00a0of shares go together.<\/p>\n<p>While giving loans to companies is safer, investing in shares\u00a0means there is no limit to how much money shareholders can earn.<\/p>\n<p>Though shareholders can\u2019t\u00a0do much\u00a0to\u00a0decide\u00a0the fate of\u00a0a\u00a0company, they can think about which companies\u00a0could\u00a0have the potential to make it big and invest there. Engaging stockbrokers\u00a0and reading about new businesses is a\u00a0good\u00a0way to start.<\/p>\n<p>Shareholders have the option to sell shares whenever they want, at par with market prices.<\/p>\n<p>However, selling shares is the last resort and should be done after thorough consideration. The stock market is an unpredictable place and while there are\u00a0<span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">certain\u00a0ways to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">analyse<\/span><\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0whether or not a company will do well, there are no set rules that may be adopted.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Real-World Examples<\/span><\/span><span class=\"eop\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40917\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/stocks-e1552539736371-625x351.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40917\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/stocks-e1552539736371-625x351.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"351\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>While Marks and Spencer faced backlash from its investors, James Moore from the Independent\u00a0said, \u201cThe deal is the best thing that M&amp;S has done in a while.<\/p>\n<p>It was in the midst of what I\u2019d term a\u00a0\u2018managed decline\u2019.\u00a0This fixes a big gap in its portfolio and gives options.\u00a0Hindsight is a wonderful thing when it comes to investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the case of\u00a0Ryan Air, Emily Hardy from the financial advisor group, This is Money says, \u201cOngoing Brexit uncertainty has left many firms with little choice but to cover their backs. It should prove as a defense that helps protect the business and value for shareholders in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An investor should also take advantage of the situation in the market while\u00a0making any decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt times like this, it\u2019s a good idea to invest little but often (once a month).
