Will electric vehicles be a good thing or a bad thing?<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41886\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41886\" style=\"width: 4032px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-41886 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/WechatIMG583.jpeg\" alt=\"electric vehicles parking space\" width=\"4032\" height=\"2268\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41886\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41886 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/WechatIMG583.jpeg\" alt=\"electric vehicles parking space\" width=\"4032\" height=\"2268\" \/><\/noscript> Exclusive charging bay for electric cars in car parking.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The Cardiff Council will begin work on the programme to reduce severe air pollution levels on 21 March, including the replacement of the oldest and most polluting traditional buses with electric buses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to data from<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CarbonFootprint, based on the carbon footprint of driving 10,000 miles, the average electric car emits 0.96 tons of carbon dioxide, while a gasoline car emits 2.99 tons each.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cElectric vehicles are much better than the internal combustion engine they\u2019re more efficient in terms of how much energy they used to move forward. They have got lower emissions and they&#8217;ve got much lower maintenance costs, running costs and ultimately,\u201d said Gareth Tucker, the Electric Vehicle Charge Point Coordinator at Carmarthenshire Energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In terms of the environmental situation in Cardiff, the biggest benefit of electric cars is that they can reduce the level of air pollution by maximally controlling vehicle exhaust emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to BBC News, more people are starting to use electric vehicles, and the number of new electric and hybrid car registrations in Wales rose by 35% in 2017 compared to the previous year. Powys saw the highest rise in Wales at 66.7%, followed by Cardiff <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and Penarth combined at 53.3%.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at 53.3%.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41888\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41888\" style=\"width: 4032px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-41888 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/WechatIMG585.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"2268\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41888\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41888 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/intercardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/03\/WechatIMG585.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"2268\" \/><\/noscript> An indicator shows that this area is only for electric vehicles.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, as a product of technological development, the electric vehicle still has many problems, especially in Cardiff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOne problem is that the technology is changing very fast,\u201d said Peter Wells, a professor of business and sustainability at the Centre for Automotive Industry Research at Cardiff University. \u201cMany people think this is an advantage, but the truth is the opposite.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cFirstly, some buyers will not buy now, because they&#8217;re waiting for it to get better in the future.
