autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne thing that was new and still remains is that fear of bumping into somebody or just simply getting too close because you can\u2019t see where they are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) Cymru has been an important advocate for blind Welsh people struggling with anxiety and other mental health problems as a result of the pandemic. According to Mr. Davies, RNIB has \u201cupped their counselling service for people who were concerned, and put on an emergency mental health service which is still going on now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RNIB has also been running campaigns to raise awareness of the issues that blind people face regarding social distancing, one of which is called \u2018Please give me space\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Disabled people are struggling with mental health issues\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dwm1LSPlZNs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Disabled people are struggling with mental health issues\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dwm1LSPlZNs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A partially blind athlete, James Ledger, has said: \u201cPlease give me space is a campaign to encourage social distancing, and it\u2019s something that we\u2019ve created wearable products for, particularly for people with a hidden disability.\u201d The products RNIB have created include lanyards and face coverings, and have been a great benefit for visually impaired people like Mr Ledger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Ledger said that these products were designed because \u201cat the start of lockdown, a lot of people with disabilities such as sight loss were getting a lot of abuse, and getting shouted at in the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe products are designed to make those around them aware that they need to give that person just a little bit more space to safely social distance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RNIB Cymru has been seeking support for this campaign across the country, from government officials to transport providers.
