According to the police report, they got into an argument here. Then, Wang was taken to hospital for surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the ambulance left&nbsp;their home, she said she saw her son in Qiao\u2019s arms, and it was the last time she would visit her child in person, but she did not realize it at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The morning after the surgery, Wang woke up and called him. \u201cI wanted him to help me carry things from home, but he told me to stop calling, and that he would take the baby away with me,\u201d said Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In China, there are many families involved in parental child abduction. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xinhuanet.com\/legal\/2019-07\/09\/c_1124727460.htm\">Haiyi Chen<\/a>, a  Chinese judge for more than 20 years, said\u00a0to\u00a0Legal Daily: \u201cIf a family has children, all divorce disputes involve custody and visitation rights, and at least 50% of the cases involve abducting and hiding children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, Chinese law has so far failed to clarify the legal penalties for biological parents who abduct and hide their children, which means that there are no illegal costs, according to Li Zhao, a Chinese lawyer who specializes in divorce disputes of Beijing Anjia Law Firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sudden and forced disconnection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The date was January 19, 2020. Since then, Wang has been unable to contact Qiao by phone, she said. And the son disappeared with him, hidden away at his sister\u2019s apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Qiao disagreed with Wang. \u201cThere is no such thing,\u201d he said. \u201cShe had been away from home since the late 2019 and showed up more than a year later.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abandoning her husband and son \u2013 was how he described Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the reason for placing the child with his sister, Qiao said: \u201cI have to work, so I can\u2019t take care of him at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Parental Abduction: A mother&#039;s journey to visit her child\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fWA3fpGmBbw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Parental Abduction: A mother&#039;s journey to visit her child\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fWA3fpGmBbw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><figcaption>Credit: Qiyuan Wei<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After Wang left the hospital, &#8220;the lock on the door of the apartment had been changed,\u201d&nbsp;she said. She began to think about what had happened before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That day, she asked Qiao why he had missed a reimbursement trip to a government agency. And then they had an argument about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wang claimed that the man suddenly stood up and threw a big bowl at her right hand. But Qiao denied this to the police, saying that she had hurt herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe right hand is no longer as flexible as before,\u201d said Wang. After the stitches were removed, the middle and ring fingers became thinner and bent, and they could no longer grab objects with force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beating is a violation of human rights, and if the degree of violence is serious, the assault may even involve criminal responsibility, according to Jing\u00a0Zhang, a\u00a0Chinese lawyer who has studied parental abduction for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;the hospital records and medical appraisals&nbsp;displayed by Wang, her injuries were characterized as slight bodily injury. \u201cLegally, if it\u2019s a slight bodily injury, it\u2019s possible for the judge to decide that the abuser is domestic violence,\u201d said Xiao Chen, a Chinese lawyer specializing in marital disputes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as for Qiao\u2019s violent behavior that Wang claimed, the local police did not punish him. (Credit: Ying Wang)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She felt that Qiao\u2019s sudden and forced removal of the child from her side was premeditated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTaking the baby while I\u2019m in the hospital is the best time,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s the only way to explain it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Planned abduction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The term \u2018premeditated\u2019 was also used by Xiaolei Dai, 41, an art director who worked on Transformers 4, to describe the disappearance of her child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 31, 2013, Dai flew back to Beijing from Canada with her son and her ex-husband, Bailuo Bi, the martial arts instructor of the 10-billion-hit Chinese TV series, Nirvana in Fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was midnight when she got home. She turned on the light as usual. As the lights came on, she suddenly noticed Bi\u2019s mother and sister sitting in her apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was actually very unhappy about showing up at my apartment without my permission,\u201d she said. With doubts and discontent in her heart, Dai went back to a bedroom to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she woke up the next morning, she suddenly found that Bi and his family had arranged a car to take her child back to the countryside of Hebei province, where Bi was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBecause they don\u2019t allow me to work in Beijing and take care of my child at the same time, or hire a nanny,\u201d said Dai. \u201cBut it\u2019s not negotiable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She made it clear that she did not consent to her child being taken away.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, the child was carried into a descending elevator, where she and Bi argued. \u201cHe punched me in the head,\u201d said Dai.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Dai\u2019s memory, his mother and sister were unmoved at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was powerless to resist, because Bi have too many accomplices,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first, she felt she had the space to let her child live in Hebei province for a while, as they wanted. They had an argument, and she set off for Beijing the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time, the separation with the child is seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn seven years, I\u2019ve only seen my child for 25.5 hours,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Wang, she was unable to reach the father of her child: he blocked all her contact information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bi could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI began to doubt myself,\u201d said Dai. \u201cI wonder why they would do that if I didn\u2019t do anything wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The atmosphere extended from the courthouse to the counseling room. \u201cThey always ask me: \u2018what did you do wrong\u2019. I don\u2019t answer those questions anymore because I didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThose are things that Bi has planned for a long time. So, no matter how much I objected, it was easy for them to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The cost of visiting children<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dai knew the child was hidden in Bi\u2019s home in Hebei province, and she has been trying to see him. But the door was always closed to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One Mid-Autumn Festival, a Chinese festival for family reunion, Dai went to meet Bi\u2019s parents with a gift box. \u201cI said I was coming to see my baby,\u201d she said. \u201cHis mom just said, \u2018I\u2019m boiling hot water and if you come near me again, I\u2019m going to throw carbon at you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the hot carbon, it also had a vicious dog waiting for her. \u201cI can never get through that iron gate. (Credit: Xiaolei Dai)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Dai finally went to the hotel for the first time with the help of the judge, carrying carefully prepared toys to visit her child after three years of separation on April 2, 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By this time, her marriage to Bi had been dissolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they met, Dai found that her son was not familiar with Dai, and he thought she was a teacher.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI keep telling him I\u2019m not your teacher, I\u2019m your mother,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Court-mandated visiting hours were three hours. After one hour, \u201cBi claimed that the child was tired and needed to go home to rest,\u201d said Dai.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, she felt the child was not tired, \u201che was having a good time with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The child left. \u201cClanging,\u201d Bi locked the door of the hotel room, leaving them alone, she said, and then he suddenly started punching and kicking Dai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe pushed me to the ground and then repeatedly stomped on my lower stomach,\u201d said Dai. This part for a woman is home to many vital organs, such as the bladder, the uterus and part of the bowel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livi.co.uk\/your-health\/what-causes-lower-abdominal-pain-in-females\/\">according to Livi<\/a>, a healthcare provider platform. It is like being free from a cage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBecause I didn\u2019t really have the space before, I had to listen to everything,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The worst part, of course, is not having her child around. \u201cBut I won\u2019t give up.
