It\u2019s a deal that will secure Cardiff\u2019s bright future. We will support a new infrastructure fund for the Cardiff Capital Region as part of this.\u201d<br \/>\nA central component of the deal is the investment in transport infrastructure for Cardiff and the local authorities, including the South East Wales Metro and the electrification of the Valley Lines.<br \/>\nFinance and Government Business Minister, Jane Hutt said: \u201cThe authorities asked for the Metro to be a central project in this City Deal and we agreed that it can bring wider economic development.\u00a0 We were pleased to be able to include it and are committed to working closely with the authorities to deliver it.\u201d<br \/>\nA Regional Transport Authority is to be created in partnership with the Welsh Government to co-ordinate transport planning and investment.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10330\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10330\" style=\"width: 162px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-Shot-2016-03-15-at-16.38.36.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10330\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10330\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-Shot-2016-03-15-at-16.38.36-162x300.png\" alt=\"Carwyn Jones in discussion with Stephen Crabb\" width=\"162\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10330\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10330\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-Shot-2016-03-15-at-16.38.36-162x300.png\" alt=\"Carwyn Jones in discussion with Stephen Crabb\" width=\"162\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>Carwyn Jones in discussion with Stephen Crabb<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nThe City Deal also promises to increase skills, help people into work and give businesses the support they need to grow in South Wales.<br \/>\nFirst Minister for Wales Carwyn Jones was pleased the deal has been given the green light.<br \/>\nJones added: \u201cToday\u2019s announcement sees that vision become a reality \u2013 it is a vote of confidence in the region and a huge economic boost.<br \/>\n\u201cToday goes to show that governments can work together despite their difference, and marks and important step for the future of Wales.\u201d<br \/>\nGreg Hands, the UK Government\u2019s representative at the signing, saying: \u201cWe know this investment is vital to improving the prospects of not only Cardiff but surrounding areas.\u201d<br \/>\nSecretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb echoed the views of Hands, adding: \u201cI think this is a unique moment for Cardiff and the regions, and it\u2019s good to see the Welsh government working together with the rest of the UK.<br \/>\n\u201cAs Wales\u2019 only FTSE 100 company, the new Admiral building seems like a fitting setting for the signing of this important deal.\u201d<br \/>\nCardiff Council leader Phil Bale, who was part of the negotiating team, said: \u201cWe have worked long and hard to bring a City Deal to the Cardiff Capital Region and I\u2019m delighted we\u2019ve been successful.<br \/>\n\u201cWe want this deal to make a real difference to people\u2019s lives, improving prospects for all our citizens.
