(Photo: Linda Ditchburn)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIS Sunday sees the return of the annual Roath Christmas Craft Market, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is the sixth year the event has been held and this year organisers are hoping to raise more than the \u00a3506 from last year. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Linda Ditchburn, who helps organise the event, said: \u201cI hope we do raise more. I know times are hard but hopefully people will come out and support us for a good cause.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For Linda it is about more than just raising money, it is a way to remember a friend, Dr Rowena Forbes, who died from cancer at the age of 44.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cShe died from breast cancer five years ago and for two of those she received a lot of support from Macmillan.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t realise that Macmillan don\u2019t just offer emotional support, they also offer money and grants for people struggling to pay the bills while they are having treatment.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPeople suffering from cancer often get cold more easily and spend more money on heating as a result. These grants help people to be able to afford this.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Linda says the idea came from the popular Macmillan coffee mornings. She said: \u201cMacmillan do a massive fundraising drive in September and October with their coffee mornings.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe wanted to help out, and we thought we would do a Christmas craft market as we do most of our business around that time of year.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event on Sunday November 20, includes\u00a0hourly raffles with handmade prizes and stalls showing local arts and crafts and festive food and drink. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Father Christmas will also be there to listen to the wishes of children and adults alike.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event is at\u00a0Mackintosh Sports and Community Centre, the location of the regular weekly Roath Craft Market which Linda also helps organise, between 4pm and 8pm. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roathmarket.co.uk\/latest-news\">Roath Market <\/a>website\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">or ring\u00a0Linda on 07806 772792.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THIS Sunday sees the return of the annual Roath Christmas Craft Market, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
