But many residents do not believe the buses are reliable enough.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kevin Price, of Bronte Close, is angry with what he calls the poor service provided to Llanrumney residents. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe service is terrible. On Saturday night my bus was due at quarter past eight. It didn\u2019t turn up until twenty to nine and I missed my connecting bus. I had to catch a taxi instead which cost me \u00a310. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMore often than not, we\u2019ve had this situation where buses just don\u2019t turn up. More than once I\u2019ve been stood on a bus stop for over an hour without one arriving. Their services have barely improved at all since that happened. Why there aren\u2019t more complaints I don\u2019t know!\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added that the bus services stopped abruptly at Mount Pleasant Avenue roundabout on Halloween and Bonfire night, refusing to go any further into Llanrumney for fear of violent behaviour. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He said: \u201cI work night shifts, and both of those nights I had to stay in and lose money because I couldn\u2019t get to work. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI know they\u2019re worried about people chucking bricks and bottles and things at the buses, but why can\u2019t they get a policeman on board with a camera or something?\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anthony Baker, of Countisbury Avenue, was even more blunt.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cMy bus was meant to be here at five past four. I\u2019ve been here since four. My bus is 25\u00a0minutes late. It\u2019s a terrible service.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Councillor Keith Jones attacked the service saying: \u201cLlanrumney Cardiff Bus routes are some of the most well used in the city. I share the frustration felt by residents with a service that often fails to meet the required standard. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPeople often talk about \u2018phantom buses\u2019 &#8211; buses that are displayed on electronic screens at bus stops that then fail to materialise, instead just being deleted off the display. We\u2019ll be making representations to Cardiff Bus to live up to expectations.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen the new Cardiff bus station opens, we want to see more dedicated Llanrumney buses using it.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But Oteju Reis, another bus user, didn\u2019t agree with the criticism. \u201cI reckon the buses are fine. They\u2019re pretty regular so there\u2019s always one when you need it. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt did slow down for one or two days where they were bad last week but otherwise they\u2019ve been fine for me.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We contacted Cardiff Bus for a comment but are still waiting for a reply.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CITY\u00a0Bus has been accused by commuters and council members of running a &#8220;terrible&#8221; service for Llanrumney.
