My son used to drink there five nights a week.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a post on Facebook with over 70 shares and hundreds of reactions, manager Maria Griffiths\u00a0said:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHi all, sorry about the sudden closure of the Oak.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUnfortunately it was out of our control due to our landlords (Enterprise Inn). We would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support for the past 22 years, thank you all for the most amazing memories we will all cherish. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have gone away for a few days to try and get our head around all the madness, once again can&#8217;t thank any of you enough here&#8217;s a new chapter for all of us. I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU SO, hopefully see you all soon.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Griffiths were unavailable for further comment. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Liz Perkins, 64, from The Philog, Whitchurch, was disappointed at the closure. She said: \u201cIt had a good clientele, I used to go there on a Friday night. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt is a shame, you think \u2018where will people go to drink now?\u2019 They&#8217;ve been running it for years, it won&#8217;t be the same with new owners.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even residents who were not regulars at the Royal Oak were disappointed. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Liz Williams, 49, from Whitchurch, who works at the Principality Building Society next door said: \u201cIt will be a loss to the village. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere are other places of course, but we have had people coming into the Principality who have been going for years. It is a drinking man&#8217;s pub, I&#8217;m not sure where they will go.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ann Stockdale, 69, from Copleston Road, Llandaff North echoed Ms Williams comments. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI&#8217;m not very happy, It&#8217;s a shame it&#8217;s going,\u201d she said. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI don&#8217;t drink there myself, it&#8217;s just another pub gone. Used to be a lot of people in the garden in the sunshine, it was used quite a lot.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A spokesperson from Ei (Enterprise Inns) Publican Partnerships said: &#8220;We are meeting with the publican to discuss the current situation in greater detail. \u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHowever, we&#8217;d like to reassure the local community that we aim to have the pub re-open and trading as soon as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A PUB in Whitchurch has surprised residents by closing its doors at short notice after decades of pouring pints.
