More than 80 guests met at the Mercure Holland House Hotel on Newport Road,\u00a0including AM Vaughan Gething, a friend of the councillor who died last year.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20652\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20652\" style=\"width: 149px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20652\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2017\/10\/Charity-Dinner-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"149\" height=\"112\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20652\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20652\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2017\/10\/Charity-Dinner-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"149\" height=\"112\" \/><\/noscript> Over 80 guests attended the charity dinner.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The evening was organised by Coun Lomax&#8217;s grandson Ashley Lister. He chose the charity because his grandfather had lived with Type 1 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve known how life-changing it can be,&#8221; said Coun Lister.<br \/>\n&#8220;The work they do lobbying on behalf of and providing support to sufferers and their families, as well as screening and awareness raising and crucially the breakthrough research is why I feel they are such a worthy cause to support.&#8221;<br \/>\nChris Lomax moved to Grangetown over 50 years ago and became councillor of the ward in 2012. He loved his job and worked right up until his death, a day after attending his final council meeting. That is why I&#8217;ll be working with them to increase awareness and screening across my area and I&#8217;d urge others to do the same. I&#8217;ve offered to help in anyway i can and will also continue to fundraise when possible.&#8221;<br \/>\nCoun Lister plans to do a charity skydive in February: &#8220;It&#8217;s all booked so there&#8217;s no backing out now!
