{"id":21382,"date":"2017-11-07T19:09:34","date_gmt":"2017-11-07T19:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/?p=21382"},"modified":"2017-11-07T19:09:34","modified_gmt":"2017-11-07T19:09:34","slug":"youth-arts-music-festival-ready-castell-coch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2017\/11\/07\/youth-arts-music-festival-ready-castell-coch\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth arts and music festival ready for Castell Coch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CASTELL Coch will be taken over by young Cardiffians at the weekend for an arts and music festival. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Folli Fest is being organised by Cardiff Youth Council and youth arts collective Are You Lost\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yet and will take over Castell Coch on November 10th.<\/span><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21385\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21385\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-21385 size-small-grid-size\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2017\/11\/Untitled-design-5-400x300.png\" alt=\"Castell Coch, the venue for Folli Fest (Credit: Cadw)\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21385\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21385 size-small-grid-size\" src=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2017\/11\/Untitled-design-5-400x300.png\" alt=\"Castell Coch, the venue for Folli Fest (Credit: Cadw)\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript> Castell Coch, the venue for Folli Fest (Credit: Cadw)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new event will feature five stages of live music and performance from young people aged 16-25 from across Cardiff.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The entertainment will include over 70 acts from a range of genres including spoken word, folk, rap, rock, ska and hip-hop. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There will also be a diverse range of roaming acts including installation art, takeaway portraits, zine making workshops, a street art\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">exhibition and hula hooping.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Festival organiser and Cardiff Youth Council Member Tom Bevan said: \u201cFolli is really just\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">an excuse to show off the sheer volume of creative talent that young people in Cardiff have, in a castle that many of them have never visited.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s a hugely exciting event which will bring the living monument of Castell Coch truly to life and build new partnerships between youth centres, artists, university students and arts organisations.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tickets for the event can be bought for \u00a35 via Eventbrite at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2hB61pi\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/2hB61pi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the festival will start at 5.30 pm. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The headline act for the event are hip-hop outfit Dirty Alex who will play alongside Folk rock band Curious Orange on the main stage. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dirty Alex said: \u201cWe are stoked to be headlining Folli Fest at Castell Coch. It is going to be off the Richter scale.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The spoken word stage will be headlined by Sarah McCreadie.
