However, Ireland\u2019s strength in the pack powered them to a 27-19 victory.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The performance of Jessica Kavanagh-Williams will please head coach Rowland Phillips, as she claimed two tries, and captain Carys Phillips also registered on the scoresheet.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Phillips has named an inexperienced squad for the Six Nations, with 10 uncapped players in his squad, and believes this could give his side the advantage.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Speaking to the WRU, Phillips said: \u201cThe new caps have brought a real hunger and energy to training, which is infectious.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere&#8217;s a fresh feel to the squad, and a sense of building for the long term.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wales lost their match against Scotland in last year\u2019s competition, having let slip a 14-0 lead to lose 15-14.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Welsh go into the game as the higher rated side, five places above their opponents in the world rankings.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scotland go into the tournament having not played a warm-up match, after their game with Spain was called off after heavy snow.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The match will take place at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay on February 2 at 6pm.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2018\/01\/30\/gatland-attacks-english-form-wales-eye-scotland\/\"><strong>Wales Men&#8217;s side also face Scotland in their Six Nations opener on February 3 at 2.15pm<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WALES Women head into the opening round of the Women\u2019s Six Nations against Scotland hoping to build on their first half performance in their warm-up defeat to Ireland.
