{"id":24894,"date":"2018-02-09T14:44:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T14:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/?p=24894"},"modified":"2018-02-09T14:44:00","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T14:44:00","slug":"blues-boss-claims-8m-arms-park-offer-rejected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2018\/02\/09\/blues-boss-claims-8m-arms-park-offer-rejected\/","title":{"rendered":"Blues boss claims \u00a38m Arms Park offer was rejected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CARDIFF Blues chief executive Richard Holland says their offer of \u00a38 million was turned down in the most recent negotiations to extend the lease on Cardiff Arms Park.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a newsletter addressed to the club\u2019s fans, Mr Holland said: \u201cIncluded in the last wave of negotiations was an offer of an \u00a38 million payment. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt appeared that all parties had reached agreement however at the 11th hour Cardiff Athletic Club turned the proposal down, which is incredibly frustrating following such a long period of protracted, expensive and positive negotiations.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Blues chief admitted that the club owed rent to CAC, the owners of Arms Park. This has been put down to \u201ccash flow challenges\u201d, however Mr Holland said that \u201cthis has always and will always be paid, albeit sometimes late\u201d.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After its annual meeting, t<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">he CAC disputed the claim that it had withdrawn from negotiations.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A statement said: \u201cThe Management Committee of Cardiff Athletic Club has a responsibility to its sections and members to ensure that the existing lease, and any new lease, provides a secure income stream for the promotion of sport in the capital.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUnfortunately, there are significant arrears of rent outstanding from our tenant Cardiff Blues Limited and this has not assisted recent discussions.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt was however the decision of Cardiff Blues Limited to terminate the discussions.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Blues issued a statement on Monday, February 5, saying the club \u201cwill now explore alternative options away from Cardiff Arms Park\u201d.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They continue their Pro 14 season hosting the Toyota Cheetahs at the Arms Park tomorrow (Saturday, February 10).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CARDIFF Blues chief executive Richard Holland says their offer of \u00a38 million was turned down in the most recent negotiations to extend the lease on Cardiff Arms Park.
