Here are the key points:<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Hackney canbfares<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dragon Taxis wants to charge an extra 20p for all rides to reflect increased running costs. Only three objections were received during the two-week consultation.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cabinet agreed to approve the application and fares will be raised from March 12, 2018.<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Household recycling<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following the announcement that Wedal Road will close on March 31, 2018, cabinet has agreed to start developing a business case for a new site in Cardiff. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the meantime, people should make better use of the free home collection service available to all residents.<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Council tax rise<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The budget for 2018\/19 proposes savings of \u00a340 million with a shortfall in funding of \u00a36.4 million met by increasing council tax by five per cent, councillor Chris Weaver told the cabinet.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plans include building up to 2,000 new council houses by 2022, and a \u00a36 million investment in cycling and active travel across the city.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is expected the budget will be rubber-stamped by full council next week.<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Land sell-offs<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After staff costs, managing council property and buildings is the biggest drain in council funds. Cabinet heard that Live Nation, which operates the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, has expressed an interest in working with the council. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are still concerns that getting 15,000 people into and out of the new arena would cause traffic problems.
