The new site could open by June.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But the businesses based in the vicinity of the current site are not all happy about the plans.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amanda James, who owns Baguetty Junction on Penarth Road, told <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Cardiffian<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that the development will seriously affect her business.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have been through 10 years of suffering for this business. We\u2019ve missed children\u2019s plays and haven\u2019t been able to go on family holidays, and for what? <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe had planned to buy this building outright but we can\u2019t do that anymore.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI am a small, independent family run business. We have been offered a place in the new development but I won\u2019t take them up on the offer because we\u2019ll lose our identity.&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26103\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26103\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-26103 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_1219-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26103\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26103 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_1219-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/noscript> The former Brains brewery site looms over Baguetty Junction<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conversely, the mood on the other side of the street is more optimistic. Simeon Rabaiotti, owner of Trade Street Cafe, was excited about the future of the area.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think it\u2019s good because it means Cardiff city centre is coming this side of the railway tracks. We\u2019ve only been open six weeks, I\u2019m happy here because it\u2019s a nice spot.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere\u2019s potential here. It wasn\u2019t the nicest spot but with everything changing it\u2019s getting better. It\u2019s promising what we\u2019ve got here so I\u2019m very pleased Cardiff Council are doing stuff.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Paul McCarthy, Rightacres chief executive wants the site, dubbed Central Quay, to become a focal gathering place for businesses and visitors with live music, events and a wide choice of bars and restaurants.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Speaking to the BBC, Mr McCarthy said: \u201cThe original Brewhouse will form the backdrop to a riverside plaza that will be the heart of the development, offering expansive outdoor space around a huge central water feature that, on a sunny afternoon, people will migrate towards.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rightacres said it was working with Transport for Wales, Network Rail, Arriva Trains Wales and Cardiff Council to incorporate a transport link in the development. Artist impressions of the site show a metro system running through the development.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The plans bear a resemblance to Cardiff\u2019s current Brewery Quarter, off St. Mary\u2019s Street.
