Photo: Gwenllian Hill.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WHITCHURCH residents are angry about council bin trucks churning up grass at one of their favourite parks.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Council trucks are too wide for the paths in Whitchurch Library Park leaving tracks on the grass.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The park behind Whitchurch Library is a favourite with dog walkers and families.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019ve seen the council trucks driving right up to the bins in the park in order to empty them, but in the meantime their tracks leave the grass in an awful state,\u201d said Gwenllian Hill.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The mother-of-three lives on Velindre Road and walks her Rough Collie, Freya, in nearby Whitchurch Library Park every day.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful place,\u201d said Mrs Hill.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The public gardens were created along with Whitchurch Library in 1904 after Whitchurch Parish Council bought the land.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mrs Hill also worries that not enough money is being spent on the park\u2019s upkeep.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI do feel that it\u2019s terribly neglected by Cardiff Council. Photo: Sian Underwood.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ms Underwood thinks that the truck tracks have caused \u201cconsiderable damage\u201d to grass on the Common.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mike Phillips, Councillor for Whitchurch and Tongwynlais, confirmed that the Neighbourhood Services department had responded promptly to councillors\u2019 enquiries about the issue.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe crews are advised to check the surface can be driven on without damaging the grass and earth, as has occurred here. The damage will be rectified and crews reminded,\u201d said Coun Phillips.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coun Phillips could also confirm that the department \u201care in the process of procuring a narrow wheel base vehicle to help avoid this occurring in future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHITCHURCH residents are angry about council bin trucks churning up grass at one of their favourite parks.
