Police have seized and confiscated many such vehicles.<br \/>\n\u201cOff-road motorcycle nuisance can relate to both urban and rural environments,\u201d said Acting Inspector Ben Davies, leader of Operation Red Mana.<br \/>\n\u201cThese bikes aren\u2019t designed for use on a road, the tyres aren\u2019t either and anti-social riders can often \u2018wheelie\u2019 or drive aggressively.<br \/>\n\u201cIt means they do not have the traction to ride safely and appropriately, and can be very dangerous, not just to the rider but also the general public.\u201d<br \/>\nJessica Jackson, 24, of Rhyl Road, Rumney, is worried for her children\u2019s safety as off-road bikers often pass through residential streets.<br \/>\n\u201cThe bikers don\u2019t care where they go. I get terrified as they always ride through my street.<br \/>\n\u201cI have three children, one with learning difficulties and I\u2019m worried that they will get hurt one day.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m nervous to walk through my street and one day they [bikers] will hurt someone.\u201d<br \/>\nAdrienne Lowes, 75, from Patchway Crescent says the bikers cause more of a problem in the summer on public playing fields.<br \/>\n\u201cSeveral of the bikers used to tear around the fields of Rumney\u2019s parks. Often they ride without helmets.<br \/>\n\u201cCouncillors are working together with the police but the number of bikers in the area is increasing and it\u2019s hard to pin them down.<br \/>\n\u201cThe police also have a tough job as bikers speed through traffic and high speed chases are also dangerous.\u201d<br \/>\nA police motorbike project in the east of Cardiff helped change the attitudes of young riders.\u00a0They attended workshops which focused on the dangers of off-road biking and its impact on others.<br \/>\nInspector Geraint White said: \u201cWe spoke to the youths responsible and there was a clear lack of awareness about where and how they could responsibly ride.<br \/>\n\u201cThis initiative was designed to encourage the youths to make positive choices.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUMNEY and Llanrumney have become hotspots for off-road bike crimes, according to police.
