{"id":28186,"date":"2018-03-23T12:36:59","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T12:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/?p=28186"},"modified":"2018-03-23T12:36:59","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T12:36:59","slug":"natwest-makes-u-turn-mobile-bank-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2018\/03\/23\/natwest-makes-u-turn-mobile-bank-location\/","title":{"rendered":"NatWest makes U-turn on mobile bank location"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NATWEST has moved where their \u201cmobile banking van\u201d replacement will be after a huge backlash from customers over its inconvenient location. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The one hour per week van, which has been <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2018\/03\/09\/bank-replaces-branch-farcical-one-hour-week-van\/\">branded<\/a> \u201cfarcical\u201d by residents, will replace the bank\u2019s Whitchurch branch and was originally meant to be parked in a hotel a mile away from Whitchurch Village. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It will now be a mile closer to the village in Whitchurch community centre every Thursday between 12.40pm and 1.40pm.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!4v1521791469091!6m8!1m7!1stOb6R6V4G52PLADXarBJIQ!2m2!1d51.51533297868473!2d-3.219178037017029!3f186.7526687330244!4f-6.330861857921974!5f0.7820865974627469\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><noscript><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!4v1521791469091!6m8!1m7!1stOb6R6V4G52PLADXarBJIQ!2m2!1d51.51533297868473!2d-3.219178037017029!3f186.7526687330244!4f-6.330861857921974!5f0.7820865974627469\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<h6>Where the mobile bank will be.<\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bank\u2019s change of heart came after pressure from residents and feedback from local politicians.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhilst we would have preferred Natwest to have been able to retain a full service in Whitchurch we are pleased that they have responded to the local councillors, who listened to residents concerns and were able to propose an alternative solution which the bank has accepted,\u201d said Mike Phillips, Conservative Councillor for Whitchurch and Tongwynlais.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Cardiff suburb\u2019s branch will <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2018\/02\/06\/village-bank-closure-concerns-residents\/\">stop<\/a> serving customers on May 17. NatWest is also closing branches in Llandaff, Rumney and the Heath Hospital this year.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/charleykaijohn.carto.com\/builder\/d1d417e7-65d9-4a73-96b0-d32fa38652b3\/embed\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><noscript><iframe src=\"https:\/\/charleykaijohn.carto.com\/builder\/d1d417e7-65d9-4a73-96b0-d32fa38652b3\/embed\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/noscript><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When the Whitchurch branch closes the nearest NatWest will be more than two miles away in Llanishen, with Canton and Roath branches being the next nearest three miles away.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While politicians are pleased that NatWest has moved its mobile banking van closer to the village they have raised concerns about the length of time the van will be available to customers.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anna McMorrin, Labour MP for Cardiff North, said: \u201cOne hour a week is not enough.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cFor a bank that is 73% publicly owned, NatWest must show more responsibility and care to our communities.
