Gutting. Very sorry Adamsdown.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coun Jones said \u201cThe strong local outcry for this is because of the loss of an open green space in a ward that already has the least in the city.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe guidance states that the ward will be compensated the sum of around \u00a3200,000. This will be the third block of student flats in a row adjacent to Howard Gardens.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coun Jones also touched on the high concentration of student housing in his ward, saying \u201cwe do not need this extra development\u201d.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added: \u201cThe planners did not wait to see if current developments of student housing in Adamsdown are fulfilling the demand.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSo much Section 106 money has been awarded in my ward. I\u2019m very confident that there is already enough money from the many other [student housing] developments to bring this whole park back to life.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhat Adamsdown needs is more open green spaces because it is such a built up area.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The whole area would be improved by more greenery or shrubbery lining the roads.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to be a dramatic change, just more greener spaces and more local amenities.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A DECISION to build student accommodation on the site of a historic bowling green, will be felt \u201cby every generation to come,\u201d says a councillor.
