{"id":3122,"date":"2014-03-14T09:05:33","date_gmt":"2014-03-14T09:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/?p=3122"},"modified":"2014-03-14T09:05:33","modified_gmt":"2014-03-14T09:05:33","slug":"all-systems-go-for-the-millennium-stadiums-final-six-nations-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2014\/03\/14\/all-systems-go-for-the-millennium-stadiums-final-six-nations-game\/","title":{"rendered":"All systems go for the Millennium Stadium&#039;s final Six Nations game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_3123\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3123\" style=\"width: 1240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/stadium-resized.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3123\" alt=\"Marc Davies, events and accreditation manager, Millennium Stadium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/stadium-resized.jpg\" width=\"1240\" height=\"930\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3123\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3123\" alt=\"Marc Davies, events and accreditation manager, Millennium Stadium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/stadium-resized.jpg\" width=\"1240\" height=\"930\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Marc Davies, events and accreditation manager, Millennium Stadium<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nAbout sixty thousand pints of beer, 8,000 hot dogs and 4,000 pies will be sold at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow for the final home game in the Six Nations \u00a0championship.<br \/>\nWhatever the pundits say about the state of Welsh rugby, the show goes on at the stadium and for the organisers it is all systems go whatever the results on the pitch.<br \/>\nIn the hours running up to the game between Wales and Scotland behind the scenes teams of people bubble away making sure it all runs smoothly on the day.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a daunting task and is the culmination of months of planning.\u00a0 Nothing is left to chance.<br \/>\nNearly 2,000 extra staff are brought in for the day to help with security, ticketing, hospitality, and catering among other things.<br \/>\n\u201cThere\u2019s a great buzz before a big game,\u201d said Marc Davies, events and accreditation manager at the stadium.\u00a0 \u201cMonths of planning spring into action and behind the scenes everyone has to work together to make sure it all goes smoothly on the day.<br \/>\n\u201cUnfortunately for Wales, we won\u2019t have any presentation tomorrow so people tend to leave after the game.\u00a0 At the end of the day we all have a debrief and sometimes we have a few drinks ourselves,\u201d said Mr Davies.<br \/>\nPrincess Anne will be in the President\u2019s box tomorrow.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s all arranged beforehand,\u201d said Mr Davies.\u00a0 \u201cThe palace has been in touch and we have literally walked them through to make sure Princess Anne knows exactly what she is doing on the day.\u201d<br \/>\nUp to 74,000 people will throng into the stadium.<br \/>\n\u201cNo matter how much planning you do something always happens at the last minute,\u201d said Marc Davies.<br \/>\n\u201cThere are all different departments with separate teams and my job is to make sure we all work together and everyone knows what everyone else is doing.\u201d<br \/>\nThey even have to think about traffic, and police and Cardiff Council have a hub at the ground with close circuit cameras with eyes on the M4 and other major roads.<br \/>\n\u201cThe last thing we want is a hold up on the M4 and coach loads of fans not being able to get through,\u201d said Marc.<br \/>\nDespite Wales\u2019 performance at Twickenham last week the stadium will be buzzing for Flower of Scotland tomorrow, and because of the hard work by people behind the scenes it is expected to be a right royal occasion.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About sixty thousand pints of beer, 8,000 hot dogs and 4,000 pies will be sold at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow for the final home game in the Six Nations \u00a0championship.
