I already knew they had robbed us, because it came into effect a few years before I left,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nMrs James, from Rumney, once held down five jobs at once and says it is \u201cdisheartening knowing I worked full-time since the age of 15\u201d.<br \/>\nLeaving the NHS in 2011 with ill health, she finds it hard to cope on her \u201cvery small private NHS pension\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cThe only reason I am not working all the way to 66 was because of ill health. I became disabled and believe you me, being disabled is a very expensive hobby.<br \/>\n\u201cThat money they robbed me off would be very handy.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Psychological impact<\/h3>\n<p>Llanrumney resident Cheryl Griffiths, 63, manages financially because her husband works.<br \/>\nYet, depending on someone else has left her lacking in confidence.<br \/>\n\u201cFinancially we are okay, but it is not very nice for me that I am contributing nothing.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is not my own money, so it just changes everything \u2013 your confidence. It makes me feel a bit useless really,\u201d she says.<br \/>\nMrs Griffiths is \u201cabsolutely gutted\u201d about the pension age changes.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve been working all my life, but last November I came out of work. Obviously, if I had been receiving my pension I would\u2019ve been fine.\u201d<br \/>\nThe judicial review will assess whether the decision to raise the pension age amounted to age and equality discrimination.<br \/>\nBackTo60 says the 2011 Pensions Act unfairly sped up the changes outlined in 1995 and left women financially vulnerable.<br \/>\nThe government says back-dating payments to those affected would cost more than \u00a370 billion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TWO grandmothers feel \u201crobbed\u201d and \u201cuseless\u201d because of state pension age changes \u2013 but campaigners \u2018BackTo60 won the right to review the alterations in January, and a High Court hearing is set for May.
