CARDIFF has closed 10 public toilets since 2010, taking the total number of council-run public facilities available to residents down to 18.
\nThe council spent \u00a388,099.86 on\u00a0these\u00a0public facilities over the 2017\/18 financial year.\u00a0<\/span>
\nFacilities that have been closed since 2010 include those on Cowbridge Road,\u00a0Whitchurch\u00a0Road, Albany Road as well as more in Canton,\u00a0Splott\u00a0and\u00a0Rhiwbina.\u00a0<\/span>
\nLucas Howell, 45, said: \u201cSuch a disappointment that so many public toilets are\u00a0closed\u00a0and facilities are not replaced.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
\n\u201cAs a dad, I really appreciate where changing facilities are for parents with young children.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>
\nMr\u00a0Howell, a\u00a0Splott\u00a0resident, added that he felt closures of public toilets was a concern for older people.\u00a0<\/span>
\n\u201cI would hate to think I\u2019ll have to panic about such things when I\u2019m older,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span>
\nA council press officer said: \u201cWe are working to increase the number of publicly accessible toilets,\u00a0<\/span>
\n\u201cFor example, we have recently opened up all the toilet facilities in our Hubs across the city for public use, in effect adding another 12 toilets to the total figure.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nCardiff Council has Hubs in\u00a0Llanishen, Ely and\u00a0Caerau, Fairwater,\u00a0Grangetown\u00a0and Cardiff Central Library.\u00a0<\/span>
