We spoke to women, we spoke to their partners, to\u00a0organisations\u00a0in those countries, and we spoke to the health care providers, so the midwives and the doctors and the nurses,\u201d said of the visits was to see if the technology would be accepted,\u00a0if women would like to use it and how they would like to access it.\u00a0<span the focus is on the women:\u00a0\u201cWhat we don\u2019t want to do is make something they don\u2019t want to use.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nThe funding covers an 18-month feasibility period, focusing on pre-clinical work that will determine if and how the micro-needle technology will deliver the contraception.<span work is successful, there is a possibility the foundation will extend the funding to cover meaningful clinical trials, which means the patch could be rolled out in the next five years.<span the drug to be\u00a0subsidised\u00a0and therefore, administered in the poorest countries that need it most.<span experience in this field meant they were one of many approached to conduct this research, and after a highly-competitive process, they were selected to lead the research consortium, which is made up of Cardiff University\u2019s School\u00a0of Engineering, Edinburgh University, industry experts, NGOs, charitable bodies and NHS Trusts.<span
