You know you are not moving the rods but they are moving.<br \/>\n&#8220;You feel it is there and there is all this excitement. \u201d<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3301\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3301\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3301 \" alt=\"Cardiff's Dowsers\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-2-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3301\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3301 \" alt=\"Cardiff's Dowsers\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-2-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Cardiff&#8217;s Dowsers<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nAccording to the British Society of Dowsers, dowsing is \u201cthe ability to use a Natural Sensitivity which enables us to know things we cannot know by the use of day-to-day brain or by learning, by experience or by the use of the five physical senses\u201d.<br \/>\nThey say it can lead them to find underground water and is sometimes used by archeologists to find missing artifacts.<br \/>\nSome have even credited dowsing with finding missing people.<br \/>\nBut keen dowsers also use it for more conventional tasks.<br \/>\n&#8220;After you have learned how to dowse, you can use it in your everyday life,&#8221; Grace said.<br \/>\n&#8220;You can look for lost objects like keys.&#8221;<br \/>\nSome branches of dowsing focus on health, well-being and allergies.<br \/>\n&#8220;If you want to know if a food is bad for you, you can place it in front of you and ask &#8216;Is this food bad for me?&#8217; and see if the pendulum swings towards it,&#8221; Grace said.<br \/>\nWith claims like this, it is not hard to see why some people may be cynical; Richard Dawkins has rejected it as \u201cdelusional\u201d.<br \/>\nBut an upbeat Grace welcomes such attitudes.<br \/>\n&#8220;I think it is very good to be sceptical because it is not something you believe, it is something you experience.&#8221;<br \/>\nShe admits at first, she struggled to get into the practice.<br \/>\nWhat convinced her? &#8220;I convinced myself,&#8221; she said.<br \/>\n&#8220;It works \u2013 this is convincing\u201d, she said. \u00a0\u200b<br \/>\nGrace said she has had some success, mainly with lost objects around her house, which she locates using a pendulum.<br \/>\nBut she does admit that while anyone can dowse, it is a skill which comes with experience.<br \/>\nAccording to Grace, most of the Cardiff and District Dowsers are open-minded and many of them are interested in other aspects of spirituality.<br \/>\nThey meet up twice a month for practicals in sites of high energy, such as St Lythans in the Vale of Glamorgan, but also for talks and lectures on topics which can help them with dowsing, such as crystals or angels.<br \/>\nBut she warns those new to dowsing should not expect immediate results.<br \/>\n&#8220;It helps if you have an experienced dowser with you,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cBut once you become experienced, you can do it in your own back yard with a coat hanger!\u201d<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3303\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3303\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3303\" alt=\"Cardiff's Dowsers\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3303\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3303\" alt=\"Cardiff's Dowsers\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dowsing-1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Cardiff&#8217;s Dowsers<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once practised by the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, dowsing is today more associated with New Age hippies and often derided for its lack of scientific grounding.
