This is due to rise again in October 2020 to 66.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Many said they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">did not know about the change and were left<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0fe<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eling<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0robbed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">being\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">forced to go back to work despite planning their lives around retiring at 60.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sue\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Donnavan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, 63, told\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Cardiffian<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0that she had been working all her life and paying into the state fund. However, in the last few years health problems had arisen including a bout of pneumonia which meant she was unable to work, leaving her to rely on her husband as the only source of income.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe government wants us to go back and retrain to work, but a lot of us can\u2019t because of health problems. We\u2019ve worked all our lives, brought up our children and paid into the fund.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">WASPI\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">unlike the Backto60 campaign<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">does not argue for the state pension to be given at 60 for women born in the 1950s. Instead, they want the pension age to be brought into line with men but be given a fair transitional arrangement for those who already near retirement age.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ms<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Donnovan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0added: \u201cWe planned our lives around retiring at 60, and now we\u2019re expected to go back to work and some just can\u2019t. I&#8217;m lucky enough I&#8217;m healthy enough to work but I&#8217;m exhausted and can&#8217;t see my grandchildren.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The protesters described themselves as a group of 1950s women, and many said that that attitudes of when they group up and worked are now holding them back in terms of pensions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dilys\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jouvenat<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, 64, said: \u201cWe were brought up in a generation that were told to rely on men. When my twin brother turned 17, he got driving lessons, I got a dress. We weren\u2019t encouraged to work, if you wanted to take a loan out you had to have male guarantor until 1980.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNow we&#8217;re close to retirement that&#8217;s affected us long- term. We&#8217;ve never planned for this so it&#8217;s tough. People can\u2019t work, and they\u2019re going homeless.
