Cardiff Council yesterday announced the roll out of a period dignity scheme as part of the Welsh Government\u2019s \u00a31m funding to address period poverty in communities across Wales.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"none\">The Welsh Government announced in March last year that local authorities across Wales will receive \u00a3440,000 over the next two years to use in schools, community groups or foodbanks, all with the aim of tackling period poverty.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cardiff Council are going to supply primary and secondary schools with the products and equipment to implement the scheme which will see dispensers installed in cubicles &#8211; as privacy was a key issue highlighted by pupils who were consulted in a period dignity survey last year.\u00a0<\/span><span Sarah Merry said:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u201cPeriod poverty is a very important issue that has been highlighted recently but\u00a0it is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">important<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0we chose to make it part of a wider conversation about period dignity.<\/span><span
